| Burgh Le Marsh W I: 2004 May- The Skegness & District Seniors Forum |
Our
speaker, Sue McLaughlin, Forum Development worker for The Skegness &
District Seniors Forum, explained the aims and principles of the organisation
which is for the over 55’s, with the purpose of being “a voice”
for its members for all everyday issues that may be presenting problems.
Wide ranges of topics include Health, Transport, Pensions and Finance and
Recreation. Two of its recent successes are the re-instatement of the toenail
cutting service and having a new bus service implemented to the Hawthorne
Medical Practice on the axing of the original bus service.
Glennis Rogerson also gave a brief talk and demonstration on Tai Chi. Secretary, Audrey Chatterton, gave her in-depth delegate’s report on the Spring Council held at the Embassy theatre, Skegness on 24th March, with guest speaker, Simon Weston, and also reported on the resolutions, which are being discussed and voted on at Sheffield on 9th June. The annual bursary draw of £150 and two £12 awards for education purposes were won by Sheila Chapple, June Smith and Glennis Rogerson respectively. |
