June
Barton, who is a regular speaker on Country Diary at BBC Radio Lincolnshire,
was this month's speaker at Burgh W.I. on “The Lincolnshire Salt Marsh,
Plants & Wildlife”. June explained the eco system of the salt
marsh, the tides being the life support factor of its flora and fauna.
She
has dedicated her life to her study and observation of the salt marsh

conservationists who wanted a ban on the harvesting of Samphire but
June claimed “commoners rights ” to harvest the plant; also
her knowledge of the salt marsh has been recorded and put in
the millennium time capsule which will be opened in the year
2100.
Sheila
Chapple gave a report on her recent course at Denman College , on
“Cathedral Window Patchwork", funded by the W.I. bursary of £150
