Burgh le MarshW.I. held their Annual General Meeting this month with the North Lincs Federation Chairman, Ann Barnes, officiating the nominations and election of the new committee and president procedures. Pamela Vessey was re-elected as president and the committee members were also elected en-bloc.

 

The Secretary, Audrey Chatterton, gave her annual report giving a month by month account of subjects and speakers. Pamela Vessey gave her presidents report and thank yous to officers and committee members for their personal contributions in their various forms. Brenda Manning, Treasurer, presented the accounts reports and explained the income and expenditure transactions.

 

Ann Barnes gave a talk and explained that the monthly competition proceeds for the Association of the Country Women of The World were being used for victims of the Tsunami and one village was being the focus of the project to rebuild and rehabilitate it. Ann also judged the members' display of crafts and selected three items jointly, A Herb Pillow, made by Margaret Williamson, a water colour painting of a Squirrel, also by Margaret Williamson and a Cross Stitch Picture Tableau by Leila Ladd.

 

The overall winner for the year's competition was June Smith and the overall winner for the Bloom of the Month was Kath Taylor.

 

Following the Scrabble play off, two teams are being entered for the Scrabble tournament at Hundleby W.I. on 30 th March, Gladys Waite and Phyllis Hezzell, team 1 and Sylvia Blight and Sheila Chapple for team 2.

Letters thanking Burgh WI members for their hospitality at last month's meeting, the 81st birthday party, were received from Croft and Thorpe St Peter.
