This
month of June the W.I. had their annual outing and this year we chose
to visit ‘ Butterfly Creek' near the Airport, then the' Dress Market'
in Onehunga and on to the ‘Sky Dome' in One Tree Hill Domain.
First
to ‘Butterfly Creek' lots of beautiful Butterflies to see in their specially
heated house, which steamed up your glasses, for the morning was cool.
If you were wearing bright colours the Butterflies would land on you
They
also had Sheep, Goats, Rabbits, Guiniepigs and a White Cockatoo who
would answer when you said Hello. We also had a train ride around the
property.
We
had morning tea at this place.
Then
on to Onehunga for lunch and shopping if you were inclined.
Leaving
there and on to ‘Sky Dome', this was so very interesting. First we saw
a film called ‘The Big Space' projected on to the Dome above us, with
a commentary by David Attenborough going deeper and deeper into space.
All
of us in our recliner chairs so all the dome was visible (some of us
thought that this was an excellent time to catch up on some sleep)
After
this film we were shown our night sky at that time and in our own area.
The
lady who attended to us has lately been in the paper, for she has just
discovered a new planet in the sky. ( but I can't remember her name)
An
enjoyable day had by all.
