The seasonal spirit came to
Burgh W.I. at their Christmas meeting with festive entertainment by
The Withern Singers who performed a very varied repertoire, opening
with The Hallelujah Chorus by Mendelssohn and The Calypso Carol, including
solos of “Walking Through The Air” from “The Snowman,” Harry Belafonte's
“Mary's Boy Child “and “Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire” and the
finale of “I'm Dreaming of A White Christmas”
The W.I.'s own choir performed “Sweet Chiming Bells”
which they are going to sing at the Carol Service at The Church of St
Peter and St Paul on Sunday 5 th December and members of the committee
enacted two humorous sketches as part of the evening's entertainment
A delicious Christmas supper and presents
from Santa brought this most enjoyable evening to
a close.
