CHRISTMAS

A time for happiness, peace and joy

Because of the birth of a baby boy,

No room at all in the inn they said

So he laid in a manger for a bed.

Stars gleamed in a dark velvet sky,

Praises rang from angels on high,

There'd never been such a great event,

As when to this world baby Jesus was sent.

So peacefully on the hay he slept,

While ox and ass their vigil kept,

God sent the gift of his only son,

Not for the few, but for everyone.

Shepherds and Wise Men - watched in awe,

Spurred on by that star they travelled far,

Bringing gifts of Frankincense, Myrrh and Gold,

In mystic wonder the Child they behold

Oh what a thrill and joy tonight,

To sing these carols by candlelight,

Christmas music as in days of old,

We never tire of the story being told.

Let us not forget midst fun and glee

As we gaze on the glittering Christmas tree,

There are those who are hungry and alone,

May not even know the comfort of home.

We hope they'll experience a feeling of peace,

And from some of their troubles find release,

So they too can share in magical joy

Of the wondrous birth of a baby boy.

Now together enjoy your Christmas Day,

For peace in the world we all must pray,

Happy Christmas to all, both far and near,

God bless and keep you throughout the New Year.
