Tuesday
7th July, Audrey Chatterton, Brenda Venables and Sylvia Blight attended
the opening of “Crafty Times” craft shop in Drummond Road and enjoyed
a sherry reception with proprietor, Brenda Kay. The W.I. ladies could
see great potential and benefits for both Brenda and W.I.'s with the
possibility of demonstrations and mini workshops in the future.
Wednesday
13th July. Committee members reciprocated Uffington W.I.'s hospitality
last summer following Burgh W.I.'s outing to Stamford with a delicious
afternoon tea.
Photograph
albums and Burgh W.I. memorabilia items were at hand as they were exhibited
at the previous weekend's Carnival display in the village hall and made
quite a “conversation piece”. A very pleasant and enjoyable time was
had by all.
Burgh
W.I. entertained members of Alford Disability Lincs with the mayor and
mayoress of Burgh, Cllr Alan Middleton and his wife Joan, as guests
of honour on Thursday 25th August. The mayor welcomed the visitors who
then enjoyed an afternoon tea followed by a talk by guest speaker Cllr
Norman Barker who reminisced on his career as a fire officer and brought
helmets from his collection and the stories associated with them.
