Burgh W.I. members, Pamela
Vessey, June Smith, Audrey Chatterton and Sylvia Blight attended the
autumn council meeting at The Lawn Lincoln on Monday 19th September.
The new county chairman, Jackie Cheetham addressed the audience expressing
her personal objectives of Friendship, Fun and Sharing of Knowledge,
and that she prefers the title of county chairman rather than North
Lincs Federation chairman, finding the word “federation”
a little off-putting.
Guests of honour included
The Sheriff of Lincoln, Vice Chairman of Lincolnshire County Council,
Cllr Helstrip,who gave an opening speech and the 799th mayor of Lincoln,
Cllr Adele Cheetham, Lincoln’s first lady mayor also addressed
the members.
Guest speaker, Steve Brookes,
BBC radio/television gardening presenter,demonstrated ingenious gardening
tips using common household items, his quick pace delivery was humorous
and entertaining. Steve has won the prestigious Writers’ Guild
award for the“Best Radio Gardening Programme and has also presented
Channel 4 series “Growing Plants”.
