Denman Visit by Audrey Chatterton.

The purpose of the Women's Institutes is to provide a democratically controlled and social organisation for women giving them the opportunity of working and learning together, to enable them to develop their own skills and talents.

Well our very own college fulfils all this and more. Beautiful building, lovely grounds to walk in, great company enthusiastic and like minded. The best of tutors, delicious food and good accommodation.

A stay here soon becomes addictive. A water colour weekend was my first introduction, the “Jane Austen” and a guided tour of Oxford one early weekend in December in the winter sunshine was magical. My last weekend in 2004 was “Walking by the River Thames” stretched my fitness, gave me new friends, and more history to digest.

North Lincs provide a coach every other year and I'm saving up … I can't wait. It is possible to go by public transport too as the lucky winners of our bursary have found, an Express coach from Louth to Leicester and then from Leicester to Oxford with a taxi pick up service delivers you to Abingdon.
