The
new county Vice President, Diane Garwood, stepped in at very short notice
to be the guest speaker at the Burgh le Marsh W.I. meeting, the advertised
speaker being unable to attend through family illness, and demonstrated
the art of North American smocking and braiding. The members were given
“samples” and instructions and produced very successful results.
President,
Pamela Vessey, explained about the NFWI campaign regarding how man made
chemicals are affecting our health and MEP's have been lobbied. People
and wildlife across the globe, even the unborn, are contaminated with
a cocktail of man-made chemicals which build up in the body and/or persist
in the environment.
Brenda
Manning gave her in depth delegate's report on the recent Spring Council
Meeting held at the Embassy and was thanked by Sylvia Blight.
The
Give Us A Clue date has been set for Monday 23 rd May and names put
forward for the participating teams.
The
Marshwold Scrabble Tournament was held at Hundleby W.I. with Burgh's
two teams coming in first and third places. The winning team members
were Sylvia Blight and Sheila Chapple , Wainfleet W.I. in second place
and in third position, Gladys Waite and Phyllis Hezzle who were also
last year's winners.
