APPEAL

Wildlife
Many
readers will remember the Picnic Site, on the corner of Bratoft Lane
and Gravel Pit Lane, which was beset by the problem of rubbish tipping.
But now, thanks to the dedication and hard work of just a few stalwarts,
the area is being transformed into a haven for the benefit of wildlife
and people alike.
Already, good progress has been made with basic tidying, and some planting
has taken place, but there is a long way to go, and volunteers are badly
needed. The Town Council has applied for a grant, which will buy woodland
and meadow flowers, bird boxes, and information signs, and will provide
fencing and gates to secure the site.
If you have experience of woodland or meadows, or are just keen to help
plant flowers and maintain the site, then please contact Karen Ward
on 01754 811450 Whatever time you can give will be much appreciated.

BURGH IN COMPETIONS

Lincolnshire
Village of the Year. In this, we were judged on what the people
and organisations of Burgh do to support their community. We were runners
up to Hemingby, who go through to the regional finals.
Many
thanks to everyone who makes Burgh such a welcoming place, and particularly
to all those who met the judges and represented their organisations.
B
est Kept Village. We were runners up last year, and
so far this year we are through to the second round, which is judged
in July. As well as public areas, judges look at individual gardens
and frontages, and hopefully they will be suitably impressed. The final
round of judging takes place in August.

There
are 21 public footpaths in the Parish of Burgh, and the Town Council
is keen to keep their condition and accessibility under review. This
entails walking the paths, and noting any problems such as restricted
access, missing signs, or broken stiles etc.
Graham
Keats has recently taken on this task, on behalf of the Town Council,
but as you can imagine, it is too much for one person to cope with.
The Burgh Scouts have kindly pledged some help, but more volunteers
are needed.
If
you think you may be able to help with this important project, which
will keep the paths in good condition for all to enjoy, then please
contact Graham Keats on 01754 811065 or let the Town Clerk
have your details.
