DRIVING CHANGE

The long awaited bypass is underway, offering Burgh a safer and more tranquil environment. Along with most residents, the Town Council has supported this, and looks forward to the benefits it will bring. Let's not forget however, that local businesses may be less sure of the benefit for trade, and only time will tell if their fears are well founded. The Town Council, together with the Burgh Forward Group, and the Burgh Residents Action Group, is ready to help meet the challenges. (News of initiatives in future editions.)

Representatives of the bypass contractor, and Lincolnshire County Council liaise regularly with the Town Council, and you are invited to report any problems with work in progress. Plans showing the route of the bypass are displayed at the Library, the notice board in the Market Place, Council Chamber and website

DRIVING NO CHANGE

There are some cars of course, which we don’t want to disappear from the streets of Burgh. The ones used by the Voluntary Car Service. Volunteer drivers take people to and from hospital and doctor’s appointments, when public transport is not suitable, or available.

Financial support for this invaluable award winning service has recently been withdrawn by East Lindsey District Council, which is particularly regrettable now, as this year marks the 50th anniversary of the scheme in Burgh le Marsh. Five Burgh drivers are kept busy currently, but more are needed. Anyone interested in becoming a driver for the service should contact Jim Dodsworth on 01754 810866.
