Pets Progress at Haven Lea

Hello dear readers,

Nice to be here with you again. “Haven Lea” has certainly been buzzing lately. Sybil practised like mad for weeks to take part in a sponsored Down, Stay and raised £77 from sponsorship. The overall total raised was £800 for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People. Sybil now wants a sparkly collar to wear for best just like her Granma, Lily Pug. The search is on but as yet we haven't found one.

Sybil then went on a shopping spree to the pet shop and spent her prize money that she won at the village carnival earlier in the summer (you can see Sybil on the Carnival at Tinkers Green Pet Show webpage) and chose a very smart coat, waterproof outside, warm and snugly inside, exactly what a young lady Pug needs when out and about this winter. Needless to say a few extra pennies were needed from Mum & Dad.

We enjoyed a visit to a Craft Morning (see The Pink Fairy Craft Group) in the village. Sybil went too, thoroughly enjoyed meeting everyone and inspecting the stalls, put pennies in the Guide Dogs collecting box on behalf of everyone. Sybil has now applied to become a PAT dog (pets as therapy) that is if she passes all the exams, and therefore would be able to visit folk in hospital and in homes too. Wish her luck with it.

Sybil is rather Puggered at the moment after taking part in a demonstration with her training club. It was held in Skegness last Saturday afternoon at the Hildreds Centre, she was a “star”, worked brilliantly and caused quite a stir. Afterwards all received a large bag of treats for their efforts. “The Duchess” is being extremely nice to Sybil at the moment. Could treats have something to do with it I wonder?

Sybil regularly attends her training classes and around Christmas is going to do her Kennel Club Good Citizen Award, Bronze. Ooops almost forgot Sybil will be one next month so big celebrations planned at “Haven Lea” anyone wishing to attend would be quite welcome. Then it will be Christmas parties on the agenda and what to wear for the fancy dress at her party. Sophie, The Duchess, is hoping for an invitation too. She is sat beside me as I write looking every inch a duchess and very generous inches they are too.

Rory Russell has passed his puppy training and received his certificate, rosette and special treats he looked very pleased with himself when he received them and is now in Sybil's class although he needs a lot of hard work yet, a lively young blade is Rory. He and his cohort, Amber Russell, have mischief down to a fine art, they are very enthusiastically into landscaping at the moment; re-arranging shrubs in tubs and pots. Plants now sway drunkenly in their pots some look positively bald after a pruning session. The Duchess, nose in the air, looks on in disapproval, as if she never ever did such a thing.

Amber Russell is available if anyone needs a shredder, her latest addition to her repertoire. The Radio Times was saved by a whisker earlier today. Rory enjoys a game of “Footie” as the photos show and is quite nifty on his paws. Well time to round up the rest of the Crewe . Voice problems mean I now use a whistle, I have it around my neck, a toot on the whistle and all are present and correct, well nearly. Sophie had her own personal trainer for the morning the other week, what else for the Duchess. She was getting a tad bossy, but she fell in love with him and was a perfect pupil. Learning a lot too as did I. Madam is now realising that in charge of the Crew she may be but we are in charge of the Duchess! We will be with you again soon.

Love to all and a high 5 of the paw from

Sophie, Saucy Sybil, Rory Russell, Amber Russell.
