W
e began the PAT DOG (Pets As Therapy) work two years ago
now with ‘Saucy Sybil' who soon proved that she had a special gift,
instinctively knowing what a person needs, she was followed by Matthew,
Matty Yum Yum to his friends, and then Upsy Daisy and Tigga who
are also excellent visitors, patient and kind. They visit the
elderly in homes and also the local Day Centre too. PAT
DOGS are very special ‘Little People' who brighten the lives of all
they meet.
‘Haven
Lea' Pugs began with ‘Saucy Sybil' our very first Pug, she is black
and the ‘Star' of the family, Sybil was followed by Matty Yum Yum.
Then along came Upsy Daisy and her daughter Tigga who we took
in when their family no longer wanted them. ‘Racy Ruby Valentine'
came next; she and the others are all fawn.

Ruby
has just celebrated her first birthday in grand style with a party
for her family and many friends. Our latest baby is ‘Sexy Sadie'
she is also black , now six months old and looking forward to joining
the ‘show' as it were, all are trained and have excellent manners,
love being the centre of attention and give their utmost whatever
is asked of them.

The
‘Haven Lea' Pugs have had a busy month, the snow of course. Then of
course Ruby celebrated her first birthday in grand style, ‘Racy
Ruby Valentine' was born on Valentine's Day, her birthday celebrations
went on all weekend. A parcel arrived from her friends in Flintshire,
a card from Somerset , texts, e mails and phone calls, balloons were
put up, one a red heart shape helium balloon. Ruby enjoyed a visit
to the pet shop to choose gifts, she took along Sybil to help, they both
enjoyed deciding what to have. In the end after much deliberating
toys and treats were chosen, then it was home for games, treats and
a special birthday tea complete with a cake and a candle which Ruby
delighted in blowing out herself.

The
next day, Sunday, friends arrived for a party, they brought three
of their dogs as well, Brandy, a smooth haired Griffon, Ace, black
Pug and Sophie a Jack Russell Griffon, only five weeks old but eager
to join in the fun. Ruby and the rest of the ‘Crew' entertained their
guests while we enjoyed a buffet lunch then they all tucked
into raspberry jelly. Barry was on standby with a mop and bucket and
I was ready to wipe sticky faces and paws, we were all amazed at how
little jelly went astray, little Sophie soon got the hang of the mastering
the jelly and was finished before the others, before the visit
was over they all laid down for a snooze before one more round of
games and then it was time for their friends to go home. Ruby
thinks being one is tremendous fun.

A
quiet week has followed. Ruby has been busy at the computer
ably assisted by Sybil to write all her thank you letters, she
then went to ‘school' on Wednesday evening, I should mention
that the week before Sadie passed her puppy course with flying colours,
received a certificate and a rosette, she is now in the same class
as Ruby, Sadie has also undergone a ‘small Ladies Operation'
too, after a few days rest she was once more ‘Up And At Em'
again, Sadie likes to think that she is in charge which alas doesn't
always go down too well with the older ones, Matty Yum Yum and
Daisy, who soon remind her who is in charge, even Sybil is known
to give her a biff now and again if she gets too high and mighty,
and has to be reminded that she is only six months old.
Hope
you enjoy reading this and seeing the photos dear readers, the ‘Haven
Lea' Pugs and all the ‘Crew' will be back soon, Rory Russell,
Pocket Rocket, has just whizzed in and sends all a High'5' of the
Paw, Bye For Now.
