Happy Easter From Haven Lea

Here we are Spring is finally with us and with it comes the promise of brighter days ahead.

Both exciting and sad news time round. Sadly, Barney Russell and Mr Dougal are leaving for pastures new, in the time that they have been with us they have enjoyed making many new friends and sharing the canine luxury of “Haven Lea”. However, they proved to be rather too much, they need a country home with fields of their own to explore, hopefully this is what awaits them. We have taught them to love and trust again, they still have a lot to learn but they go with our blessing.

Just when all seemed gloomy a lady has come on board to join the crew, Miss Tizzy's mother, Tilly, has retired to “Haven Lea”, it has been understood for years that she would retire here, Tilly is eight now and has already settled well. Keeps young Sybil firmly beneath her paw (doggy under the thumb) Miss Tizzy won't stand any nonsense either from Sybil or anyone else for that matter. Sybil is growing quickly now, the Crew love to play ball in the garden, Tizzy in goal, Tilly watching from the sidelines while Sophie is in charge of the ball, - almost. Sybil waits to ambush her as she charges up the ramp a quick nip of her leg and she soon relinquishes the ball. I referee from the decking. Problem is the Goalie runs off with the ball; it usually ends up with all of them on the bandstand having a discussion, yes the bandstand. It is – well imagine a bandstand in a park on a small scale of course and that is what Barry has built for them in the garden to relax on and survey the world on summer days. There will be a large squishy cushion on it for their comfort, the older ladies will be able to enjoy the shade too while keeping a watchful eye on the younger crew.

Easter is almost with us and with it will come the promise of treats all round. Sophie will have a ball – what else! Sybil already has another new lead and matching collar in a fetching shade of pink with tiny hearts on it, treats for the ladies too. Sophie is thinking of an Easter bonnet, she loves hats. Watch this space!

All the crew are enjoying long walks. The sights and scents of Spring set tails wagging. Friends are visiting soon so the crew will no doubt be enthusiastically welcoming them on board. It will be the first time for Saucy Sybil, her name suits her perfectly, she has added a whole new dimension to our life. Her exuberance and sense of fun brighten our days, she is almost human, indeed Sophie is too, they all do a sterling job of keeping an eye on me on days that I am not up to the mark, they lay by my feet or on my lap and know to be very good, bless them every one.

We and the crew wish you all a very happy Easter. Look forward to being with you again soon.
