Take
a walk around Alford and look at what you see,
For
every street is steeped in history.
The
thatched manor house is a lovely sight to behold,
In
its grounds magnificent trees, hundreds of years old.
Step
onto the market place, you could be back in time,
With
its cobbled streets and stocks, and an atmosphere sublime.
You
cannot fail to see the windmill standing so tall,
With
its turning sails it seems to beckon to one and all.
A
beautiful church stands on an elevated site,
Inviting
you to come inside, as perhaps you might.
Dressed
in his best regalia is the town crier, an asset to this lovely
place,
But
for me the crown is its people, presenting a warm friendly
face.
There
are many more things that I could talk about,
But
perhaps you'd like the fun of finding out.
