The Lincolnshire Flag

In August 2005 the BBC and Lincolnshire Life Magazine embarked on their campaign to produce a flag specifically for Lincolnshire .

Six designs were being considered and these were put online for the public to vote for their preferred design. Thousands of votes were received and this winning design was launched on Monday 24 th October 2005.

The design comprises of the emblem of the City of Lincoln, the Fleur de Lis, centred on a red cross (plus sign) with a gold border, signifying the crops; with the background, representing the sky and fields, of two blue squares, the bottom left and top right hand quarters, and likewise, the two green squares diametrically opposed in the top left and bottom right quarters.
