The
whole By-pass issue has naturally created two types of campaigners,
those who are adamantly for the idea & those who are passionately
against the idea, & all have valid points of view.
Lets
just step back from the whole mix of views for the moment & explore
the main core components of each truly valid view:
The
lack of a by pass:
1.
Increased Roadside property facades being demolished/damaged by out
of control vehicles.
2.
Visitors & residents to struggle to stop safely in the village due
to high speed flow of traffic.
3.
Traffic Fumes & Noise to damage & disrupt the environment &
residents of the local area.
4.
Residents to be restricted from parking their private vehicles legally
on the main road due to risk of damage from fast flowing traffic/collisions.
5.
The current unmarked town speed limits to be replaced with motorists
own preferred speed limits.
6.
Disgruntled residents to periodically place road obstacles like skips
& caravans on the main road causing a grid lock situation in the
village to combat the life threatening speed of traffic.
7.
Continued road surface repair costs to spiral due to excessive traffic.
8.
Future tourist & resident cycle path projects through the town to
be abandoned due to safety concerns.
9.
Future residents being put off from purchasing properties in the town
due to traffic volume & noise.
10.
Increased road accidents to motorists & pedestrians alike.
11.
No appropriate traffic calming being currently used proposed for future
implementation through the town, especially on the main road, to make
road user aware of speed limits, pedestrians, young children & parked
cars.
12.
Traffic volumes will continue to increase & worsen each year
13.
Future tourist developments to be un realised
14.
