The London Mozart Players gave a superb performance on Friday 10th October at Burgh’s St Peter and St Paul’s Church as the last concert of The Burgh Forward Group’s Cultural Programme for 2003.

The septet ensemble comprised a slightly unusual combination of instruments – harp, clarinet, flute, 2 violins and cello.

The Programme:

• Quintet for Harp and Strings- Arnold Bax
• Fantasia on Greensleeves - Vaughn Williams
• Piece en forme d’Habanera- Ravel
• Gymnopedie No 1 - Satie
• Entr’acte- Ibert
• Silver Moon- Lynne Plowman

• Victorian Kitchen Garden Suite Paul Reade (A composer of music for television and films)

• Flute Quartet No 2 in D Major K285 Mozart
• Introduction and Allegro Ravel

Lynne Plowman, her composition, The Silver Moon, was inspired by Tennyson’s poems relating to the night sky and she was the 1995 winner of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales Young Composers competition.

The London Mozart Players have been appointed Orchestra Residence in East Lindsey and will be in our region in Spring 2004

During the interval Burgh’s mayor, Cllr Jim Dodsworth, presented Eileen Chantry with a bouquet and gift in recognition of her hard work in her position as Secretary of The Burgh Forward Group since its inauguration two years ago. Eileen is resigning as secretary but will continue to serve on the committee.
