Simon Mayor and Hilary James featuring the mandolin, mando cello and mando bass
Simon Mayor and Hilary James

Simon Mayor and Hilary James put on a unique performance, slick and yet had an easy, informal intimate ambience. The couple have been together since university at Reading over 30years ago.

The second concert of Burgh Forward Group’s Cultural Programme took place on Tuesday 6th May at Burgh Baptist Centre at 7.30pm.

The programme consisted of folk, blues, swing and classics introduced by Simon’s off beat humour, pieces included were:

Arrival of the Queen of Sheba” by Handel, Concerto for Mandolin by Vivaldi, Russian Rag, Black and White Rag, When Nightingales Sang in Berkley Square, If your kisses can’t Hold the Man You Love (your Tears Won’t Bring Him Back)

To have a concert featuring the mandolin, mando cello and mando bass is a rare event in any locality and was very much appreciated by the audience
