The Lincoln Male Voice Choir

The Burgh Methodist Church hosted the performance of The Lincoln Male Voice Choir on Saturday 24 th September as part of The Burgh Forward Group's cultural programme.

As male voice choirs originated in Wales the opening Welsh song “Gwahoddiad” was appropriately chosen, followed by “The Battle Hymn of The Republic” and “ O Mary Don't Weep”.

Victor Herbert's “Gypsy Love Song” and “September Song” were performed as solo pieces by Tony Scott.

The audience was treated to the conductor, Eric Hewes' daughter, Rebecca giving two solo performances on the cello, by Bach including “Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring” and “The Swan” from Swan Lake and also a keyboard solo performed by Joyce Hainstock.

Music from the 1960's included “I Feel It in My Fingers I Feel It in My Toes” and “When I Fall In Love.” The programme concluded with the emotionally stirring “You'll Never Walk Alone.”

Eileen Chantry gave the vote of thanks.

The raffle and refreshments followed to complete the evening's entertainment.
