Alford Silver Band March 2006

 

 

The Alford Silver Band gave their first public appearance of 2006 at Burgh Village Hall on Saturday 11 th March which was also their 28 th annual performance at Burgh. It was also the debut performances of two young members of the band Christopher Rawson and Aidan MacQueen.

 

The repertoire was excellent with a wide range of styles which included music from Cats, a selection from Mary Poppins, Negro Spiritual – Nobody Knows the Trouble I've Seen, The Wind Beneath My Wings, Winter by Vivaldi from the Four Seasons, Prelude to a Solemn Occasion (I Vow to Thee My Country) by Gustav Holst composer of The Planet Suites to name but a few. John Panton, introduced each piece with brief background details.

Whilst the band took a break Jan Hudson and two of her pupils, Lauren Bailey aged 10 and Matthew West aged 9 known as the Melodees played Titanic, This Old House, Dvorak's New World Symphony (The Hovis Bread Theme) When All the Saints and the theme from the 70's television series Owen MD on the keyboard.

 

A raffle and refreshments served to the audience by members of the band completed a most enjoyable evening.
