The carnival opened at 1.15pm with a blessing from Father Terry Steele and the mayor, Cllr John Panton B.E.M. presented the Town's Civic Awards to Eric And Misty Culpin for their wide ranging voluntary work in Burgh, Graham Keats for his voluntary work involving checking the conditions of the public footpaths and arranging works to stiles gates etc. and to Karen and Bob Ward for their voluntary work at the Burgh Picnic site now named Willow Way transforming it from a “wasteland” condition to a pleasant public quiet area.

Winners were also presented and The Chairman of East Lindsey District Council, Cllr Janet Harrison, and consort Alan Harrison judged the children's and adults fancy dress competition.

 

The afternoon entertainment followed with impressive displays by the Leicestershire & Rutland British Legion Pipe Band and the First Alford Brigade Band, with the popular Pet Show, Punch & Judy, Classic Cars, Minis and Volkswagen display, a Dog Training Show, Majorettes and Binney the Clown as well as various side shows, and bouncy castle and slide. The afternoon concluded with the Grand Raffle being drawn for numerous prizes.

 

Burgh Carnival Committee wish to express their thanks and appreciation to all those who contributed with prizes, and help, to organisations and individuals, which made the event possible.
