The Alford Silver Band provided yet again excellent entertainment at the Village Hall Burgh for the 33rd year!
Burgh has a very close affinity with the band. About 35 years ago Alan Waite, son of Burgh resident Gladys Waite, went into a room at the Congregational Hall in Alford and found a small group of men playing instruments. Alan got them organised, recruited some more players and reformed the Alford Silver Band which at that time had gone into decline. Two years later Gladys asked Alan, who still currently plays in the band, if he would bring his band to Burgh and give a concert which started the annual tradition that we enjoy today. |

| This year's concert, under the direction of Steve Walker, compared by John Panton, who gave a brief history of each piece, commenced with The National Anthem and was followed by an extensive repertoire which included Scott Joplin's “The Entertainer” and a suite of folk songs by the junior members of the band and concluded with the county anthem “The Lincolnshire Poacher” | ||
